Upcoming Events! Register for the Bando seminar Combative Tactics this September 20 & 21.

Tompkins Karate Association (TKA) offers the finest martial arts instruction to thousands of students at over 30 class locations each week. Students develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and physical fitness while learning traditional martial arts taught using modern learning theory and techniques. TKA develops students with a sense of self-confidence, responsibility, and respect for self and others. All while having a great time.

Classes are currently being held in Howard County, Montgomery County, and Prince Georges County. Classes welcome all skill levels from beginner to black belt, including students with previous martial arts experience.

Just wear comfortable clothing that you can work out in to start and we'll help guide you the rest of the way.

The excitement and fun of TKA summer camp is for all ages and all skill levels. Instruction covers basics in all areas; forms, jujitsu, fighting, exam preparation, weapons, specialty classes, and more.

Check out our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). If you can't find the answer there, please call our office at 301.840.9262. Stop by one of our class locations and talk to the instructors. We welcome you to sit on the sidelines and observe a class or two. Or, jump right in. We have classes starting approximately every 10 to 12 weeks.

The workout is supervised by panel members consisting of third degree black belts and higher. They are there to answer your questions and to provide guidance as you "do your own thing".

Our goal is to provide the finest instruction in traditional martial arts using modern learning theory and techniques. TKA strives to help students develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and physical fitness. We encourage a sense of self-confidence, responsibility, and respect for self and others.

Students can obtain black belt ranks, participate in tournaments at intramural and national levels, receive instruction in traditional weapons, attend seminars in the martial arts, and learn to instruct underbelt students.
