TKA has been teaching in Maryland since 1965. We were one of the first martial arts schools in the country to teach children. All of our instructors started martial arts with our program and many have 20, 30, and even 40+ years of experience. - Cost
We keep our costs down by partnering with local recreation departments and teaching in schools and community centers. This allows us to provide a high-quality experience while keeping our classes affordable — without contracts. - Quality
We take pride in the quality of our students and our instructors. In our program, students earn advanced ranks by demonstrating proficiency in class and at formal tests. Unlike many martial arts schools, students aren’t promoted based on the calendar (e.g. a new belt every few months). Instead, they are promoted when they’ve truly accomplished the requirements for the next level. - Student-focused Approach
We teach students from 5 years old through adults and recognize that every student is an individual. We recognize that students have different goals, learning styles, and challenges and make every effort to tailor instruction to fit the student. - Community
Over our more than 50 years, we’ve developed a strong community of students and instructors. Our students tend to stay involved in the organization, often socializing outside of class and developing lifelong friendships along the way. We are a family-oriented organization and have seen instances where a student has the opportunity to teach his/her instructors’ children who then go on to return the favor with the next generation.
